hydrocodone-apap 5-500 ? I've been taking my moms hydrocodone-apap for pain when I'm on my period...t works pretty well...I'm not addicted or anything...I just want to find out some things about it...
I take it on my periods because I have 'cuts' on my ovary's and periods are painful (i can't remember the right word for whats wrong with me).
Can someone just tell be something about them...
I only have a few left...would it be bad if I asked my doctor for more? (i'm 18)
The bottle says...
hydrocodone-apap
5-500 tablmck.. My banana in your republic replied: "it has codeine in it, a controlled substance
the doctor will likely be upset with your mother for letting you take it
it has addictive properties, will make you drowsy, and should never be mixed with alcohol
your doctor will probably only prescribe if you provide a very good reason for needing it"
IrishFire replied: "I've been on it, and it's a doozy.
You aren't allowed to drive while you're on it, and it can wreak havoc on your kidneys or liver, so be careful. Whatever you do, do NOT take any additional tylenol with it. That "500 APAP" is as much tylenol as you can stand without taking severe damage.
It's perfectly acceptable to talk to your doctor about your pains and discuss your options. You can mention that the hydrocodone worked well for you, but he may prescribe something less intense to see if it works for you. It should! I was on hydrocodone after my pelvis broke from blunt force trauma!
Side effects that got to me include nausea, fatigue, bloating, and constipation. All of the narcotics cause all of those to varying degrees. I wound up being too sick on the hydrododone and going to something else.
Do a google search for more specifics about the drug, or call a pharmacist and ask. Good luck with the owies!
Oh, also beware taking antihistamines or alcohol with it, as you can stop breathing. You really want your doc to prescribe you something legally to keep yourself out of trouble if you're in an accident, and to avoid potentially fatal drug interactions you weren't aware of."
DynoDiKk replied: "Well this means 5mg's of Hydrocodone/500mg= Tylenol. This is a narcotic opiate drug and if used sparingly (And I mean only when you need the) not doubling doses and only using for this reason it may help.
Hydrocodone is highly addicting, but if you do not double doses or out-right abuse them you should be fine. See what your doctor says. My opinion, your a little too young to be playing around with these, but when I was 18 I considered myself a man; you must respect what they are. If you take a few a day and skip, than go a week without and so on, you will never get a problem with them. It is when you start using them every single day, doubling and tripling doses and than taking something stronger, that is when problems begin."
smilesbigalways replied: "The doctor probably wont put you on that med right away, if you have cuts on your ovaries you don't want to be taking any aspirin. I would see if the doctor would want to put you on birth control pills to help regulate your period and sometimes with the right combination of hormones it can decrease cramps, bloating and headaches they even have pills that you can only get your period for 3 days instead of 6 or 7. I would just ask the doctor about options and what you can do to help the pain." 15 pills of hydrocodone/apap 5/500 lethal? Is 15 pills of hydrocodone/apap 5/500 lethal? if so im thinking about throwing it out since its not being used and got it for tooth pains but never felt any. What does HYDROCODONE/APAP 5/500 TAB MCK mean? I was wondering about the strength. Thank you everyone! Alissa replied: "it's 5 mg of hydrocodone and 500 mg of tylenol / paracetamol"
Patrick replied: "It means that it contains 5 mg of Hydrocodone (the opioid pain medication) and 500 mg of Acetaminophen (The generic form of Tylenol - commonly abbreviated as APAP). TAB means the medication is in tablet form, and the MCK is the drug manufacturer - most likely Merck Pharmaceuticals.
Hope this answers your question!" I took 4 hydrocodone/APAP 5/500 am I high? I took it for a head ach and jaw pain and now I feel really heavy, tired, and feel like I'm gana throw up, but my stomach doesen't hurt. can hydrocodone, apap 5/500 kill you? is it fatal if taken to much? read somewhere that its the weakest so wouldnt do much harm..? 10-15ish tablets markconnell2001 replied: "Yes, this drug can kill you. There are a few different ways that it can do this. The opiate portion of the medication is the hydrocodone. Opiates are CNS (Central Nervous System) depressants. In a high enough dose hydrocodone can depress the CNS so much that breathing becomes so shallow that it stops. This, of course, is not conducive to life. The dosage in which this occurs varies among individuals. Some people can take a much higher dosage without negative effects while others have problems on lower dosages.
Another way that this can kill you is the acetaminophen level. This is the 500 portion of the 5/500. This means that there is 500mg of acetaminophen in each tablet. The daily recommended dose of acetaminophen is no more than 4000mg. Exceeding this (there is debate on how much) can do permanent damage to the liver. Acute liver failure can kill within 48 hours." |
